Still brothers

They still look pretty similar, but I can now tell them apart a little easier... I mean, in pictures of course. Here are pictures of the boys at 3 months old:

Their eyes are about the same color and so is their hair... though Johnny seems to have more of it than Hank. Unfortunately, Hank is losing hair in weird spots. He's not going bald anywhere (other than the back of his head, of course), but his darker newborn hair is definitely falling out. If Johnny's hair is any indication of how Hank's will turn out, I think I can expect some light blond hair to grow in.

Brothers?

I was looking through the pictures I have of Hank (the number of which is pitifully small compared to the number of Johnny I had taken by the same age) and I found this picture:
Which looks an awful lot like this picture:
Yes? Except that the second picture is of Johnny at about the same age as the one of Hank. 7 weeks-ish.

Some friends of ours that met Hank this past weekend proclaimed, "He looks EXACTLY like Johnny! It's like a replay!" Which prompted me to go back and look at pictures and videos of Johnny at this age and well, the evidence is above. They are definitely brothers. Looking back at all of the documentation of Johnny was a little weird because I barely remember him being that small and uncoordinated. It blows my mind that he was ever as helpless and tiny as Hank is now... so much happens in the first year and a half, it's hard to keep track of it all and commit everything to memory. Thank goodness for technology! If only I had been as good about blogging back then as I am now... but I suppose that's why Johnny has two almost completely filled-out baby books and Hank doesn't. Oh well!

And the comparisons begin

One of the nice things about having two boys is that I will get to compare them. Not in the, "Your brother never pulled crazy stunts like this!" kind of way (because those comparisons happen regardless of gender), but more in this kind of way:
Hank is on the left and Johnny is on the right. They are about the same age in these pictures, though Johnny was 10 days early and Hank was 3 days late. Look at how much bigger Hank is than Johnny! He's got chubby cheeks and a double chin going on, not to mention how pink he is... which could also be lighting, but Johnny was jaundice, so he was more yellow than Hank. However, I think they look like they're related, don't you?

Genetics

I put together this comparison a few months ago and just found it while perusing my pictures for something blog-worthy.
Hmmm.... I'm thinking he inherited my eye color.

Flowbee Redemption

Remember that time when my husband tried to cut his hair with a Flowbee? And after that he said he'd sell it on Craig's List? Turns out that not many people are in the market for a Flowbee. Go figure. So, when it came time for Johnny to get his hair cut again, we were faced with a dilemma: shell out another $25 for a hair cut or do it at home. Well, seeing as we aren't interested in getting his hair cut for $25 a pop every time his hair gets shaggy, we decided to try our luck at home. I grabbed some scissors, John grabbed Johnny's head and we got started.

It seems that this cutting hair thing is an awful lot more difficult that the ladies at the salon let on. Using scissors to cut Johnny's hair: FAIL. Using clippers: FAIL (he doesn't like the feeling of them on his skin). So John turns to me and says, "Well, Kelly, we do still have that Flowbee..." I hemmed and hawed a little before finally telling him to hook it up, which he did... giddily. John turned that sucker (ha!) on and I'll be damned if Johnny didn't end up with a decent hair cut. Yeah, it was a little on the bowl-cut side, but hey, at least it was even. So here you are, a little comparison:

Not too shabby, huh? I guess John was right to buy that stupid thing. :)

Hippie hair

As you can see from the photos below, Johnny's hair is getting quite long. He has, as John would say, "hair like a hippie." Considering Johnny can't really sit still for more than 2 seconds, getting his hair cut is probably an experience best saved for later... when he can sit still for at least 10 seconds. Finally last week, the hair on the side of his head was growing over his ears, so John held his head in place while I clipped some hair away and now he looks much better. I don't think that counts as a first hair cut considering I didn't cut away enough hair to save in the baby book... well, I don't think it counts and that's what matters.
On the left, Johnny is 8 months and on the right he was 3 months. Look at the difference!! Crazy, huh?
And here's another one, just for fun:
