I'm 15 weeks old today!
Can you believe that I'm almost 4 months old?! This week I've been rolling over like crazy! I originally rolled over to the right, but now I'm a master at rolling over to the left. Mommy was trying to do a "professional" photo shoot with me to take pictures like the one above and I wouldn't stop rolling over. I couldn't understand why she kept getting frustrated at me. Isn't she always trying to get me to roll over? And then all of a sudden she doesn't want me to roll over? Geez. Make up your mind woman! I'm also starting to drool ALL OVER THE PLACE! I think it's hilarious that Mommy has to change my clothes so often... but she's wising up and starting to put these obnoxious bibs on me.

Giggles!
I finally caught Johnny giggling on camera. And it's adorable. :) Oh, and I finally figured out how to make the video fit on this blog. Yippee!

Chatterbox
Johnny has a love for spewing random syllables these days, and it's hilarious. He will intermittently inject spit bubbles into his chatter, too, which is also hilarious. He's starting to make new sounds every week, occasionally putting sounds together that sound like actual words . . . not that I'm expecting him to talk now, but I get excited when I puts the M sound together with the O sound and another M sound. I figure if I get excited enough he'll say "MOM" just to see me squeal. Enjoy the video!

So I've been slacking . . .
Sorry all! I took a two week hiatus from the blog thing . . . my apologies. Johnny is now 14 weeks old and still cute as can be! He's started rolling over to the other side, so now he can roll from his tummy to his back to the left AND right. We've started sitting him up against the couch so he can practice sitting and he even sits in his Bumbo and looks adorable . . . of course. :) He's smiling a lot, making new sounds, and his new favorite past-time is blowing spit bubbles. I'll report more later, but in the meantime, here are some recent pictures of our bambino!

12 Weeks!
I'm 12 weeks old today!
This week was a big one for me because, as many of you know, I rolled over for the first time! So far, I'm only able to roll to the right, but don't worry, I'm working on that left side. I still love to look at myself in the mirror, as you can see in the picture, and my neck strength is just getting better and better every day. Since my neck strength is getting so good, Mommy and Daddy have started facing me outward in the baby carrier and I LOVE looking around at all the sights. One of my favorite places is Vons because of all the great colors there are. I started sleeping through the night this week, much to Mommy's delight and have even had a night where I sleep from 8pm to 2:30am and then from 3am to 8am. It's amazing how much better I feel after a full night of sleep! This week I'm looking forward to participating in another UCSD study on infant vision and to my 3 month birthday on Saturday.

Tummy Time No More
Johnny has always hated Tummy Time. Well, not always. He liked it when he was a few days old . . . and mostly asleep. After he turned a few weeks old, be began to rebel against Tummy Time for unknown reasons. I tried doing it in different places like his cute surfboard tummy time mat, or on my bed, or on me, but to no avail. He still hated it. However, I still made him do it for as long as possible every day because it is important for muscle development in the neck and chest in preparation to hold his head up and start crawling and such. (I am definitely going to be that mom who makes her child do things and says, "BECAUSE IT'S GOOD FOR YOU! Now finish mopping the floor while I read the rest of this magazine article . . ." just kidding. Kind of.)
Turns out my child is quite the innovator. He decided that since he hates being on his tummy so much, he would just learn how to roll over. Duh.

The first time he did it, I nearly lost my mind with excitement . . . and then proceeded to check the mat to see if there is some kind of incline. When I was satisfied with the flatness of the mat, I decided that it was probably a fluke and put him back on his tummy. Lo and behold, he did it again! This is when I grabbed the camera and was sure he wouldn't do it again because no matter how many times children will do something during the day, you put them on camera and they are just dying to make a liar out of you. But, he did it. And then did it again, though this time Mommy didn't position him very well on the mat . . .

Oops. Poor little guy.
Basically, our little man has learned to roll from tummy to back but has yet to learn how to roll from back to tummy. I'm sure we'll get there!

To the Zoo!
Yesterday, my mom and I took Johnny to the zoo for the first time and he actually did very well! Obviously, he can't enjoy everything the zoo has to offer as he's only two months old and can't see very far yet, but he did like being outside in the sunshine with all the different smells and sounds. Eventually I'll be able to tell him all of the cool facts I have stored in my brain about the zoo (did you know that all of the plants at the San Diego Zoo are worth more in total than all of the animals put together?), the animals, and the beauty of evolution . . . okay, maybe it'll be a good decade before he cares about any of that but whatever.
We managed to stay for four whole hours! Granted, he slept on and off through a good two hours of it and then was inconsolable at the end, but hey, I'll take what I can get. Since he was sleeping most of the time, we didn't get too many cute pictures of him at the zoo; I'm still wary of waking him up when he is napping since he still has issues taking daytime naps. However, we did take a few and I have included them below. Enjoy!
